**WORLD's NO.2 ECOMONY IN A RECESSION**

World's No. 2 economy in recession
Japan, the world's second-largest economy, is in a recession, government officials announced. Japan's Cabinet Office confirmed that its economy fell another 0.1 percent in its third quarter, following a 0.3 percent drop in the second quarter. The country's gross domestic product has fallen by 0.4 percent this year.

Japan's recession announcement was not unexpected. Part of the problem is the strong yen, which skyrocketed in recent weeks as turmoil in the world's financial markets and concerns about a global recession drove investors away from high-yielding currencies such as the euro and the pound. As a result, lower-yielding currencies like the dollar and the yen surged in value because they are considered by many investors to be a safe-haven.

Since Japan is such a big exporter of goods, a more robust yen hurts profits for Japanese firms as sales from abroad get translated back into yen. The more that the yen has climbed, the worse Japan's stock market has performed, which has resulted in a ripple effect on European and U.S. exchanges.

Possible cure for AIDS

Medical professionals in Germany may have stumbled across a possible cure for AIDS after treating a man for cancer.

Doctors in the German capital Berlin were surprised to discover that a bone marrow transplant they used for the patient with leukaemia also cured him of the HIV virus.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/11/14/2420169.htm?section=world

~~~~~~~~
An unexpected side effect seems to have resulted from a medical procedure to help a HIV-positive patient battle leukemia: after a bone-marrow transplant, all traces of the virus disappeared from the patient’s system. There has been no sign of the virus even now, nearly two years later, although though the patient has stopped taking anti-HIV medications.
The Wall Street Journal, in a Nov. 7 article, related how an American residing in Berlin was treated by Dr. Gero Hütter, a hematologist, or blood specialist, whose use of a bone marrow transplant procedure appears to have "functionally cured" the patient of HIV.
The reason, it is speculated, is that the marrow donor enjoys a naturally occurring mutation in his DNA that fends off HIV. That same mutation was present in the marrow cells that were used in the transplant procedure, and somehow it seems that that mutation from the donor has conferred an immunity to HIV to the patient, despite the patient’s pre-existing HIV-positive condition.
~~~~~~~~

The stem-cell transplant patient has been AIDS free for 20 months now, the New York Times reports. Yet the world is far from seeing a cure for the disease; specifically doctors assert in The New York Times that at this time it may be more dangerous to undergo stem-cell transplant than living with the disease and taking antiretroviral drugs. Besides the danger associated with this treatment plan there are other issues that must be considered.

For instance the genetic mutation necessary is currently rare. To successfully transplant the stem-cell doctors will have to find the rare gene as well as find a donor that matches the patient’s tissue cells. Scientists are trying to duplicate the gene but have not yet done so.

Other considerations include the danger of the stem-cell transplant procedure. This treatment strategy is extremely dangerous in itself. According to The New York Time article 10 to 30 percent of those who undergo the transplant will die from it.

~~~~~~~~
In another report:
Allegedly, Dr. Beck has already found a cure.
The following PDF contains "a real cure for all viruses including aids and cancer." The cure is electricity and magnetism. All biology has electromagnetic properties and electrifying the blood changes the exterior surface of viruses rendering them unable to attach themselves to healthy cells and replicate and thus they die off and are eliminated. This cure doesnt require a special type of blood or special DNA.
***MAKE SURE YOU ALL GO OUT AND VOTE THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF OUR LIFETIME***
Time For Change?
More than ten years after his death, rapper Tupac Shakur's influential track "Changes" is still in rotation. Known for being one of the greatest rappers of all time, it is no surprise that his lyrics carry messages easily relatable to current issues within our society.
Tupac rapped in the mid-nineties that; "its war on the streets and the middle east / instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs"
Those two melodic bars touch upon issues that effect all of our daily lives. However, for a multitude of reasons these problems are often overlooked and devalued.
Fortunately, we as a united people, have elected to recognize that these issues need to be addressed. Some have concluded that these problems will not go away without the right leadership. We have elected a black presidential candidate. Whether his experience - or lack thereof - challenge his ability to function as the ideal president is topic for another discussion.
However, what he does present to our nation is a change in ideological properties, and breaks down many imbedded stereotypes. Sadly, such a momentus part of history is tainted by a controversial dialogue from prominent black role model and activist Rev. Jesse Jackson, who used the word "nigger" and mistakenly spoke on a live microphone negatively (and offensively) about Barak Obama. How much change is really going on?
We move two steps in the right direction to fall three steps backward; this is not the change we need in order to resolve our issues.
The ignorance within our society is holding us back from our full potential. With mainstream music encouraging us to "turn a crack rock into a mountain", "get silly" and "superman that hoe" - what exactly is being taught? Are enlightening lyrics like those in "Changes" even going to help? How many people stopped selling crack after hearing "Changes"? How much did gang violence decrease? How much did the population of incarerated blacks decrease?
How much CHANGE for the better came from this record? How much CHANGE for the better will come from having Barack Obama as president?
Either way, I think its fair to say society is fucked up and full of idiots. But what better way for the rich to get richer? This country runs so smoothly by exploiting closed-minded individuals. But how many times do we need to be slapped in the face to open our eyes and acknowledge what is going on - and DO something about it?
