What is Real Music?

“Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul”. This art brings a higher level of thinking that allows one to think outside the box. When hearing intervals, they ring throughout my mind and when hearing two people harmonize a major 3rd and when it is perfectly in tune it does nothing but soothes my heart and soul. One cannot touch music or see it, one can only hear it, and someone once told me the road to someone’s soul is through the eyes and ears.

When listening to music my whole mind becomes hypnotized; I’m lost in its message. My body freezes as if it went into a coma because the words of the song spoke through my eyes and whispered into my soul. Music to me gives an incredible sensation, that one would only imagine physical touch can give, however it gives an internal sensation which is beyond breath taking. Music theory is very important in anyone that is considering to peruse any type of musical encounter. Once a musician has a strong foundation of understanding the whole technical aspect , then one can actually exceed technique and finally be able to make true beauty.

Music should be taught in school(s), especially specific types. For example, Classical. Scientists have come to recognize that children who exceed in music tend to exceed in math as well, because the same part of the brain is being used for both. Personally, I don’t really listen to a lot of current mainstream songs, because I wouldn’t call it music. Many of the rappers say a lot of nonsense; it seems as though a lot of them speak just to hear their own voice. When music should be something you hear, but also feel, it should make sense, attempt to convey a message and flow all at the same time. All of those contributions are what makes music, music. And it seems as though rap lacks a lot of those attributes.
When it comes to Country music, I do appreciate a lot of the songs. Many of country singers seem to always have a message/story to tell that many would be able to relate to and that is an important attribute to have in trying to create music. R&B and hiphop occasionally have a little soul to their songs which is very admirable, however it seems as though the more honest musicians are with their music, the less they are being listened to. So they continue to write nonsense ex. “Daddy’s home” by: Usher Raymond. Therefore I usually stick to classical, gospel, some “old school” ex. Etta James and boys to men, and that is what I believe to be true music.

It's been a while since the last post so here's some quick CATCH-UP:

Wow the makeup party we hosted in April with Maquillage Ent was FANTASTIC! We drew such a diverse crowd of mixed cultures, different backgrounds, The lower class, middle, and upper all came together to enjoy the evening. The cheesecake was delicious, the music was perfect, and The DON’s vision of breaking down social barriers thru art became a reality.

Here's what Shereen says:
The makeup party was well put together; I knew it would be good but it was better than I expected!!!! It was in a great location, different mix of men and women from all races, great music, delicious cheesecakes and wine. Everyone was friendly and courteous, making new friends and seeing old ones. My friends loved it and their makeup, which I might add was flawless. The makeup and the makeup artist are fabulous. The DON did a great job putting it together and I would definitely go to another makeup party.

And change happens; you can't stop it, so you may as well figure out how to capitalize on it. The key is an entrepreneurial mindset. The path is to personal economic freedom.

You Go To School, Get A Job, Work Really Hard, Stay With A Company For All Your Life, then When You're Retired the Company Takes Care of You For as Long as You Lived.

The rules have changed!
In the information age, you go to school, you get a job, you may work there for the rest of your life, you may get downsized, and all this.

But the big change is now your retirement is up to you. So if you retire at age 65, and You Have No Money, it's not the company's responsibility any more.

The issue now is not "Job Security" but the real issue is long-term financial security.

If you retire at 65, the good news is: you might live to 100. The bad news is: you might not have enough money.

To celebrate the launch of Louis Vuitton’s Stephen Sprouse collection, Louis Vuitton will be doing several things which includes redecorating New York’s SoHo Louis Vuitton store, releasing a series of limited edition items as well as hosting cocktail parties at their flagship store.

NEW YORK — Like the artist and designer who inspired the new collection, Louis Vuitton is heading downtown for its new Stephen Sprouse collection.

This week, the company’s boutique on SoHo’s Greene Street will be transformed into a Sprouse destination in time for the collection’s arrival.

“SoHo is a special place for the entire launch of the Sprouse collection,” said Daniel Lalonde, Louis Vuitton North America president and chief executive officer. “It’s in the proximity of where Stephen Sprouse hung out, so we are going to give the entire store a Stephen Sprouse feel. It will have a lot of reminders of Stephen Sprouse. We will be giving it a new identity.”

For instance, the company is wrapping the store in vinyl and spray painting neon graffiti all over the facade. The window display will feature a 6-foot neon light installation in Sprouse’s Rose motif. The store’s interior, enhanced with black brick wall facing, will also be sprayed with the neon graffiti.

The collection will launch in its entirety at the SoHo boutique on Thursday. The complete worldwide launch will follow on Feb. 2, though the Rose pieces will be available at Louis Vuitton stores worldwide starting Friday.

For the launch, the luxury goods company is also creating two limited edition pieces, which will only be available at the SoHo location: a Stephen Sprouse graffiti skateboard replete with a hard case monogram skateboard trunk, and a Stephen Sprouse “Roses” T-shirt. The company hopes to sell three graffiti skateboards with trunks for $8,250 each, and 70 T-shirts for $250 each. “I don’t expect them to last very long,” Lalonde said. “By Friday, there probably won’t be any more left.”

Proceeds will benefit Free Arts NYC, which provides underserved children throughout New York City with special arts programs. Vuitton is also making an undisclosed donation to the Sprouse Estate, as well as the Stephen Sprouse Memorial Scholarship Fund at the National Academy for Design here.

Sprouse became known in the Eighties for his graffiti art and fashion designs. In 2001, Vuitton artistic director Marc Jacobs collaborated with Sprouse and created an instant must-have accessories collection with the Monogram Graffiti collection. Sprouse died in 2004, and Vuitton made its first donation to the fund in 2006 when Jacobs created a scarf in Sprouse’s honor, using one of the collaboration’s leopard prints.

Vuitton will honor the late artist with three events this Thursday. The night will kick off with cocktails at the Vuitton boutique on Greene Street, with a simultaneous event at nearby Deitch Projects’ Wooster Street Gallery for the opening of the “Rock on Mars” Sprouse retrospective. Afterwards, Vuitton and Jacobs will host a bash at the Bowery Ballroom, featuring a performance by Sprouse’s friend Debbie Harry, followed by DJ Jus Ske. The venue is expected to have a Sprouse feel, with a special graffiti-and-neon decor.

“It’s something new from Vuitton to start the year off,” Lalonde said of the collection. “The product, design, and expression are uplifting and rejuvenating. That’s the feel we try to provide for the evening and for the collection.”

Tru Life has already had an interesting career. It has been an enticing one, filled with feuds, fights and rhymes, but the rapper has yet to release a full fledged mainstream debut album. Recently, he spoke on his deal with Roc-A-Fella and his friendship with Jay-Z.

“I was Roc-A-Fella all day first off, let’s get that clear,” he told XXLMag.com. “I signed to Roc La Familia but I was always Roc-A-Fella. I was just Latin, but when that folded it was easy, they just moved me over to Roc-A-Fella."

Later, he added that Jay spoke to him to let him know he was leaving his position at Def Jam before he made it public.

"I’m a smart business man so when I found out Jay-Z was gonna leave - 'cause I got the heads up, cause that’s my big homie - I didn’t wanna stay there either at Def Jam.”

He went on to speak on the matter with more details, explaining more about his contract and his previous offers.

“As far as Def Jam is concerned, I didn’t wanna be in an upside down situation. ...I had seven deals on the table before I took that deal and I only took it because of Jay-Z. So I felt like if he’s leaving, I wanna leave too…It was also in my contract that if they didn’t put out my album, they had to give me $300,000. So being the smart businessman that I am I took that $300,000, they did it under the radar so nobody really knew, but I been was off of Def Jam for a while. We did it before Jay-Z actually left."

Furthermore, he added that he is still a part of The Roc, despite being off of Def Jam. He noted a recent meeting where both had fun in Las Vegas.

"I left Def Jam, but I’m still with Roc-A-Fella, I’m still with Jay-Z. Me and Jay was just out in Vegas balling out, spending stacks. You can ask Jay.”

No album details have been finalized or made public yet.
